Boeing Day of Service
On Saturday, July 17, young people from the LA Conservation Corps along with 500 volunteers from Boeing will be out at the Bolsa Chica Conservancy in Huntington Beach and White Point Nature Preserve in San Pedro to restore and maintain natural wetland habitats. 2nd Quarter Accomplishments
Did you know that in the 2nd quarter of fiscal year 09-10 (October 1 - December 31, 2009) that Corps
- Provided work, education and support services to 285 Young Adult Corps corpsmembers,
- Abated 271.811 sq. ft. of graffiti from City Streets,
- Recycled 62 tons of beverage containers,
- Planted, maintained, and distributed 15,984 trees,
- Removed 127,000 sq. ft. of invasive species,
- Rescued 300 live animals from local power plants,
- Provided 130,153 middle school students with after school academic assistance, educational enrichment and recreation activities, and
- Enrolled 406 students in LA Education Corps charter school sites.
And those are just a few highlights from our very long list of accomplishments!

2010 Luncheon Celebration
On March 11, 2010, the Corps awarded more than $130,000 in scholarship money to over 150 scholars from our programs. During the Luncheon, we honored Ralphs Grocery Company and Edison International as our Corporate and Community Honorees. We were so honored to have the Honorable Eric Garcetti, LA City Council President as the special speaker at the event as well as recording artist Xzibit to present the scholarships on stage.

Recognition at LA Live
The LA Corps was recognized on Monday, December 21, at LA Live by the Kings Care and STAPLES Center Foundation. Corpsmembers Tonnisha Clark and Jose Garcia both got to speak about their experience at the event. Jose was then presented with a Corpsmember of the Year award. Congratulations!

New Funding from the Chemistry Council
Great news! On December 15, the LA Corps received a $100,000 grant from the American Chemistry Council for the River Keepers program.

New Funding from the JiJi Foundation
Great news again! This week we received a $10,000 grant from the JiJi Foundation for a project with the Tejon Ranch Conservancy. The bulk of the funding will be to establish a formal long-term relationship between the Tejon Ranch Conservancy and the LA Conservation Corps. Congratulations!
